The transfer window opened on June 15 — five days before the World Cup even kicked off. It does not close until September 1. That means the market has been running for over a month while most football fans were focused on Messi, Mbappé, and MetLife Stadium.

Before we go club by club, one deal stands above everything else. Chelsea have signed Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in a British record £117 million deal. The 23-year-old England forward signed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with new manager Xabi Alonso’s vision playing a key role in his decision to join.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have set a new record for a British player by signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for €135 million. Arsenal: Quiet But Smart
Arsenal go into the new season as defending champions after their 2025/26 title win. Their transfer business has been notably measured compared to rivals — and that feels deliberate.
Arsenal have added goalkeeper Illan Meslier from Leeds United and made Piero Hincapié’s loan from Bayer Leverkusen permanent. Jakub Kiwior has moved to FC Porto and Karl Hein has left for Werder Bremen.

Chelsea have signed Geovany Quenda, Denner, Dastan Satpaev, Emmanuel Emegha, and Marco Palestra — while Marc Cucurella has moved to Real Madrid, Tyrique George has joined Everton, and Andrey Santos has moved to Manchester United.

Manchester City: Rebuilding at Record Cost
City finished second last season and have made it clear they intend to challenge much harder in 2026/27. Their recruitment this summer has been eye-catching.
The £135 million Elliot Anderson signing from Nottingham Forest is the headline — a bold statement of intent to rebuild the midfield that has been their weakness in recent seasons. Highly-rated youngsters Mathys Detourbet, Jeremy Monga and Pierce Charles have also joined City’s squad.
GameDay verdict: City are spending like a club that knows they let the title slip last season and will not let it happen again.
Manchester United: Tielemans and Andrey Santos Arrive
United have been busy under Michael Carrick. Youri Tielemans has arrived from Aston Villa for £35 million — a proven Premier League midfielder who brings experience, range of passing, and leadership to a squad that needs all three.
Andrey Santos has also arrived from Chelsea. The young Brazilian was one of the most highly regarded prospects in the Premier League last season and gives Carrick another option in central midfield.

Aston Villa: Losing the Best, Replacing Quickly
Villa have had the most dramatic summer of any club. They lost two of their most important players — Rogers to Chelsea and Tielemans to United. Amadou Onana also suffered a long-term ACL injury that will keep him out for most of the season.
In response, Villa have signed Johan Manzambi from Freiburg in a club-record deal worth up to £59.5 million, beating Newcastle to the 20-year-old’s signature. Manzambi impressed at the World Cup with three goals. Villa have also completed the signing of Joao Gomes from Wolverhampton Wanderers for approximately £38 million.
GameDay verdict: Villa have reacted well to significant losses. Manzambi is a real statement signing — but replacing Tielemans and Rogers fully will be very difficult.
Newcastle United: Gordon Goes, Cash Floods In
The most significant departure of the summer has been at Newcastle. Newcastle United sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for £69.3 million — losing one of England’s most exciting attackers but generating funds that can reshape the squad entirely.
The club reportedly had a deal in place for Osasuna winger Victor Muñoz before Liverpool hijacked the transfer at the last moment. They are now searching for attacking reinforcements with a sizeable budget available.
GameDay verdict: Newcastle’s summer depends entirely on how they spend that Gordon money. If they get their replacements right, they can still push for top four.
Liverpool: Muñoz Hijack and Defensive Strengthening
Liverpool are looking to bounce back after finishing fifth last season — their most disappointing campaign under the new manager. Liverpool hijacked Newcastle’s transfer for Osasuna winger Victor Muñoz and also beat Chelsea to centre-back Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais.
